Jagori as part of the initiative is the knowledge and content support organization for the members of the Campaign.

Safety of women is a societal issue which calls for collective action and responsibility. Awaz Uthao aims to create ‘community collectives’ to undergo capacity building trainings and act as the watch bearers for preventing and prohibiting all forms of gender based violence. It also aims to bridge the gap between service providers and the community for increasing accountability of the governance and ownership of the community. Community actors, especially women can advocate and influence local authorities’ decisions-making processes to ensure safety in the community and thus a violence free society.

Gender Inclusive Cities Programme (GICP)

The Gender Inclusive Cities Programme (GICP) aims to create cities that are inclusive and respect the right of all people, including women, to live, work and move around without fear or difficulty. This is being implemented in four global cities by:

The programme also sought to identify the factors that cause and perpetuate inequalities and exclusion, as well as the policies and programme approaches that enhance women’s inclusion and “right to the city”. The first stage of this programme consisted of knowledge-generation using the methodological tools of mapping, research and review. Afterwards, Women in Cities International in partnership with local governments and NGOs used this knowledge to pilot interventions designed to reduce the public vulnerability and exclusion women and girls face. Pilot interventions looked at promoting women’s and girls’ access to and understanding of their rights.
